Laura Horner-Richardson, Head Baker

Where in the world were you before starting at BB&P? After learning how to bake from my time at King Arthur Flour, I took a job as the Executive Pastry Chef on an 800-acre private island in the Turks and Caicos. I then moved back to the East Coast and worked at Scratch Baking Co. in Portland, Maine.

Favorite type of food? I am a huge fan of Thai food!

Favorite Vermont activity? In the winter it’s snowshoeing, in the summer it’s swimming and hiking.

What are you listening to right now? I am currently listening to the NHPR podcast series “Bear Brook.” I just listened to the last episode and am anxiously awaiting the next season! (Fingers crosses that there is one!)

What excites you most about being part of the BB&P team? I’m excited to be a part of the team at BB&P that works hard and strives to connect with the Brownsville and surrounding communities, while producing high quality, approachable, and comforting food.

 

Matt Levasseur, Line Cook

Where in the world were you before starting at BB&P? McCarthy’s Restaurant in Stowe, VT.

Favorite type of food? Comfort food.

Favorite Vermont activity? Camping, cooking, and cooking while camping.

What are you listening to right now? “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.”

What excites you most about being part of the BB&P team? I’m eager to share my passion for cooking with the community.

Carrie Swain, Assistant Director of Food and Beverage

Where in the world were you before starting at BB&P? Before joining the BB&P team, I was the Bar Manager at Skinny Pancake in Hanover, NH.

Favorite type of food? This time of year, I'd have to say my favorite type of food would be any sort of good quality cheese. It could be brie, cheddar, chevre, bleu...I love them all. Especially on a slice of fresh baked bread.

Favorite Vermont activity? I love any hobby that involves making things. I do a lot of knitting in the winter time and recently I've started getting into leathercrafting. A lot of friends and family members are going to end up with keychains and wallets in their stockings this year!

What are you listening to right now? I love listening to podcasts whenever I'm doing things around the house. I'd say there is a tie between the two that I listen to the most— I love "Stuff You Missed in History Class" and "Unladylike". They are both so well researched and entertaining at the same time.

What excites you most about being part of the BB&P team? I'm excited to be working with such a fantastic team of people who are all very passionate about (and amazing) at what they do.

 

Jimmy Huynh, Cafe Cashier

Where in the world were you before starting at BB&P? I worked at Skinny Pancake in Hanover, NH as a Front of House manager. Before that, I was an Office Manager in the Career Services department at Dartmouth College. Fun fact about me: I’ve also been a Dessert Chef!

Favorite type of food? Vietnamese food, because it reminds me of family and home!

Favorite Vermont activity? I love to hike when I can! Also, antiquing has been my new passion; I love to visit as many antique shops as I can.

What are you listening to right now? My recent favorite podcast that I am listening to is, “Everything is Alive”.

What excites you most about being part of the BB&P team? The most exciting part is being able to work with all the local farms and produce in the area. There is so much available in the community— I’m ecstatic to learn about each one and showcase all their products at BB&P.

Christina Rathburn, Market Cashier

Where in the world were you before starting at BB&P? I started working at the old Brownsville General Store in 2000. I worked there through high school then returned in 2012 until it closed in February 2017. In 2016 I took over my mother's small home bakery, North Star Bakery, when she retired. I expanded products, added delivery locations and have been doing that on my own ever since! 

Favorite type of food? All things seafood!

Favorite Vermont activity? Recently I've been doing a lot of shoveling and splitting wood, which totally count as VT hobbies, right? I spend most my time working, which is also pretty Vermonty. When I'm not working I'm spending time with my daughter. In the spring/summer I like to garden. I also like to read and make jewelry. 

What are you listening to right now? My main music playlists are Hot Rhythmic & Rap Caviar. Podcasts I like include, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, The Conan podcast, Anna Farris is Unqualified and 2 Dope Queens. I hope it comes back! 

What excites you most about being part of the BB&P team? I'm so happy that BB&P is finally a reality! I know this location has so much potential for success. Peter, Lauren and the team have such a great attitude and vision for this place, I am glad to be a part of it! 

Alexandria Leary (aka Allie), Retail Cashier

Where in the world were you before starting at BB&P? Before I joined the BB&P team I worked (and am still currently working) at the Brownsville Community Church as a pianist.

Favorite type of food? My favorite type of food is anything homemade. I especially love homemade chicken pot pie.

Favorite Vermont activity? I like to hike, golf, and play tennis. In the winter, I enjoy skiing. I also love to ride my horse, Teddy.

What are you listening to right now? I am currently listening to “Jesus Take the Wheel” by Carrie Underwood.

What excites you most about being part of the BB&P team? I am excited to work with an amazing team of people, and to make connections with people in the community.
